Symptoms of diabetes:

  • Numbness or tingling in your hands or feet
  • Slow wound healing, sores or cuts
  • Frequent fungal infections
  • Erectile dysfunction

Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM):

symptoms can appear quickly — over a few weeks or months. You may experience additional symptoms that indicate a severe complication known as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). DKA is a life-threatening condition that demands prompt medical attention. Its symptoms include vomiting, stomach aches, fruity breath, and difficulty breathing.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus:

You may not notice the symptoms because they develop slowly. Regular blood tests may reveal a high blood sugar level before you notice symptoms.

Prediabetes:

Darker skin over the nape of the neck, armpits, groin (acanthosis nigricans) is an indicator of insulin resistance and prediabetes

Gestational diabetes mellitus:

Gestational diabetes usually has no symptoms. If you do experience symptoms, they may be mild, such as unusual thirst or frequent urination. Between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy, your healthcare professional will screen you for gestational diabetes.
